Learn Email Marketing – Your Way To The Predictable Cash Flows

Chances are that if you are reading this, you’re likely to be in tens, if not hundreds of e-mail marketing lists now. If you are looking to learn email marketing, it is probably best to consider this fact, and ask yourself exactly, how did I get on those lists? Chances are, for the vast majority of the emails you get, you may not know. However, of the 5 e-mail messages from commercial interests you regularly receive. How did they come to be e-mailing you? How did they capture your email address in the first place?

Thinking about this question will inevitably lead you to the first thing you need to know about email marketing. This means you need a list to e-market. Thus, most of e-mail marketing is really about list building, and how you can accomplish this effectively.
Now I can say with almost 100% accuracy that every e-mail you received, be it now or in the past, you perceived a value was offered. Whether it was an excellent product on Amazon, or SEO training, or software, at one point, you perceived value and voluntarily gave up your email address in exchange for more information.

This is what you must do to create your own mailing list. You must make a strong play for your potential subscriber, and give them a reason to care about you. This is a basic fact that many e-mail marketers forget when they try to create a list. The days when people willingly put in an email address for just about anything are over. You must offer something of value to site visitors, in exchange for their e-mail. Just a note to all of you who are still learning. “Something of Value” is not a Newsletter. Nobody wants to see another newsletter in their inbox. Sorry. That is yesterday’s tactic, that just plain doesn’t work anymore, unless you are a well-established celebrity, or web brand.

Some marketers called this “bait,” because they are enticing people to get them to enter their e-mail. No matter what you call it, you need to think long and hard, about what this enticement, or bait will be. Because without it, it is very hard to build a list. To find out what makes the potential client “opt-in” to your list, you need to understand the market and understand exactly what is important, and why they visit your site. Only then can you successfully offer something of value to give them in exchange for their email. It will also show why it is relevant, what they are looking for.
